Is it normal to have breast milk and not be pregnant since your taking the depo shot?? if not!! what can cause breast milk if not pregnant??

Hi! This happened to me! Your prolactin (hormone) level may be high. Go to the doctor and they can test this.
I was on a medicine that increased my prolactin level and then all of a sudden, milk was leaking out of me.
But it could also be a sign of more serious health concerns. Please see your doctor.

the depo shot is a MEGA dose of hormones (very similar to the natural dose of hormones your body would experience to maintain the fetus during pregnancy) so it is not uncommon for breasts to leak a bit of milk even though you are not pregnant. however i would reccommend seeing your doctor if it is any more than just a small leakage from time to time.

I did a search for you on the side effects of Depo Provera. It didn't say anything about lactation, but here is the link that I found quite interesting. This does not sound like a drug that I woudl like to take.

i only heard that breast cancer can cause breast milk if not pregnant

a diet which causes a high level of hormone, prolactin I think
