It depends on what level of sponsorship you want.
Unless you have some MAJOR mods....it will be difficult to land a ful one.
Most sponsorships are partial...where as the sporsor has some type of connection to your vehicle...such as the products you have or who did the work.
Starting out getting a sponsor can be difficult at times...especially with a car that is in high demand and has a lot of competition...(ther are a lotta STi tuners out there).
I would suggest writing up a formal propsal and taking some good pictures.
Alos...let them know if sponsored how you will get thier name out and noticed.
That the main point of sponsorships...they want the people to not only see your car but their product.
The other major thing is you have to be unique.
The mods you have now...I would say a good 30% of STi owners already have that done. But what can set you away from the pack is your presentation and being prefessional.
Always outline your current specs, future mods, and "showability" (NCCA, ISCA, NOPI) if youre a regular there...then you have ore chances of landing one.

Just make sure the car is evenly presented and have a good proposal, and some pics to back it up.
Be yourself and unique and you can land one.
Get some smaller companies, local people, and then you can move up to bigger fish.

Good Luck

You gotta show people that you can drive and that you have the potential to win. You also have to rub elbows with the sponsors and get involved in the things that they care about. Like if a particular company gives to the Red Cross, you should be out there volunteering and donating blood. This in and of itself does not guarantee you sponsorship but it puts you in a position where you will get the opportunity to have someone listen to why they should sponsor you. Lastly, you must show that there are people who like you, know you, believe in you and support you. Nobody will sponsor an unknown race car driver.
