If you study your history , you will see it is also the stand Abraham Lincoln and Roosevelt took while their popularity dropped and polls showed the American peoples opposition to continuing or engaging in war..

Bush ,I think really belives he is the smartest man in the world. and that he is going to turn Iraq around, what he does not understand is that the people there are all about religion and could care less what the rest of the world think, on top of that they are also lazy they want someone else to do the work so even if bush could win his war he still has not accomplished a thing, Iraq will still be fighting a holy war.

I think Bush realizes Iraq is going to be viewed by history as a colossal failure. I appears to me that he is proposing a half-assed plan that he claims will take 2 or 3 years to show results so he can simply stop dealing with Iraq for the rest of his term. After all, in less than 2 years it becomes someone else's problem.

I have no idea. It seems to defy all logic. I would be pissed if a democrat was making such stupid decisions too, so it isn't that I hate Bush, just don't know what the hell he is thinking sometimes. he seems to live in a dream world where things will suddenly turn around even though we are still trying the same approach.

Definitely not a silly question. Absolutely ! The repubs are staging a last ditch effort to coming out with a half-@ss effort to clean up the mess they started! And at what cost? More young lives wasted for a no good cause !

This is an example of leadership. Leaders don't bend and sway with public opinion, and they follow through. Did you hear Senator Harry Reed ( or Reid) dem. Nevada, make his statement today that he doesn't have to have a plan, as he is not President. What kind of leadership is that? Dems don't have a plan on how to WIN the war, they simply want to whine, and throw a fit to sway public opinion, some of us are actually bright enough to see through it.

No, it's actually what the Demo's wanted, they formed the committee to look into this, they chaired it, they canme up with three answers to Iraq, 1, get out, 2, turn more of it over to them, or 3 send more boots....he listened to them, took thier advice and now gets hammered for that too...Demo's are so wishie washy they don't have a clue!

Bush no longer cares what people think as he will get slammed no matter what he does. He is trying to do the only thing that will restore his image in history and that is to complete his mission with success.

This isn't about politics. That is probably the first thing you need to understand.
This is about finishing what we started. Keeping our word to the people of Iraq. Believing in the power and the ability of our military. Doing what is right.
