forces are multiplied coz of pascal's law which states that a pressure exerted anywhere on a confined fluid is transferred to each n every part of it undiminished n equaly.

this is the principle on which hydraulics work....they will use the smallest possible area of piston so that the less force which they have to aply has a huge pressure which if transferred to a surface of large area ,gets under the whole of that large piston n thus pressure*area = larger force...
this is NOT a violation of the law of conservation of energy coz the energy spent = wrok done= force*distance moved....
