Dont worry about it first of all, the more you think about it the more you will do it cos its on your mind.
Maybe you need to get all that stuff off your chest, so its best to talk to someone you trust about your relationships and everything, then you will stop talking to strangers about it. I should know I do it all the time.
And maybe if you occupy your time more then you will think about other stuff and therefore talk about it. You may not be able to stop talking, but at least it will be less embarrasing for you.
Dont worry about whether that person thought you were bad, or crazy, you know who you are.

Don't worry about silences, where you feel pressured to fill them in by saying something. Listen to the other person. In terms of the amount of time each of you spend talking, try to keep it fairly close to 50:50, don't talk all the time. Don't think you're boring if you just talk about everday things like TV, fashion, gossip, etc.
When you meet someone new, move slowly through the stages of getting closer to them, gradually revealing more personal stuff as you move from stranger, through acquaintance, friend to close-friend.
Keep really personal stuff for close friends that you can trust with any info you give them.
It's all a question of getting the balance right - you don't want to get so guarded that you think for 3 seconds before saying anything and people think you're being unfriendly, you want to chat in a relaxed way and reply to things almost straight away. But, you don't want to blurt out your first thought on everything.

First thing....stop being so hard on yourself. I realize you like talking, but you may want to stop and think about what you are about to say. The brain can create a thought in 1/100 of a second, but that doesn't mean it has to come out of your mouth. Most importantly though, just be yourself and go with the personality that you have. You might want to try and start throwing jokes in and kidding around instead of shooting from the hip with personal details and thoughts. Good luck.

I do the exact same thing. I don't know exactly how to get over it but I do feel that I am trying to get better. I have always been like this and it has gotten progressively worse the older I have become. Try not to stress over it to much....I know it is hard though. Good Luck!

Try being a better listener. Sometimes taking a breath to let others talk turns the subject and helps you learn more about others instead of you being the open book.

You're doing it because you don't believe you have much to offer, and you want to cover up your imaginary shortcomings with a lot of chatter --- unfortunately, the only thing you have to talk about is yourself.
I guarantee that if you get out and join TWO organizations (local theatre groups, civic organizations, charities, professional groups for industries that you're in or want to be in), and start volunteering for them, that you'll have a TON of stuff to talk about that isn't about you.
You'll also build up your self-respect, and you'll be respected by others, and you'll be more interesting.
So get out there and get involved. Today would be a good day to start.

Before you say something, think about it first. If you think it might come across the wrong way or it might not be something you want everyone to know dont say it. Give other people a chance to talk

Instead of talking about yourself, talk to others about themselves. It's the best way make friends, and keeps your words from getting you in trouble.
You know what your problem is, replace your bad habit with a good one. Simple!

what i do, to avoid blurting out every single thing on my mind, is i just run what i'm going to say through my head and see how it sounds before saying it. you can also work on not talking to certain people who don't know you really well and might judge you based on something you say that was a slip of your tongue.

I reveal everything about myself, like you do. I am not ashamed of it. If they don't like my thoughts or actions, or how I feel, they don't have to listen.
On the other hand, bite your tongue so that you can hear what the other person is saying.
Just be yourself, and thank you for being so honest.
