Not really.

The original Chronicles of Amber were good, but the next 5 books were crap (except for the scene when somebody dosed Merlin and wound up in Through the Looking Glass and had to fight the Jabberwock--the description of the vorpal sword was inspired). I liked _Eye of Cat_--but now I can't remember if that was Zelazny or John Brunner. Overall, I find Zelazny's work cynical but readable and fun. Entertaining, but not really inspiring nor especially perceptive.

My husband would agree with you, definitely. One of his favorite books is Bring Me the Head of Prince Charming.
