Whenever I am in a decent, rational and intelligent conversation about Bush and the American invasion of Iraq, there are always some Americans who directly slam the conversation down.

Why is this, since it is pretty clear Bush screwed up badly: ten thousands of Iraqi cicilians dead, 3000 dead American soldiers, hundred of thousands of people who are maimed and traumatised, a country that is not functioning at all due to a civil war and more and more extremism on the rise, no WMD or bukes found, etc.

So why are there still people defending Bush?

PS: I am fully aware that there are plenty - if not the majority - of Americans ( like 'Dead Man Walking') who believe that what Washington is doing is wrong. That is why I said "some Americans".

Because most Americans are brainwashed morons who believe everything they see on TV and believe that teh Bible is God's word and don't have a mind of their own. There are only 2 elements in the universe: Fear and Love and everything else comes from these 2 things. America is full of fear. Fear of change, fear of terror, fear of failure, fear of work. I love this country (I'm a dyed in the wool full blooded American) but I don't love what this country has become. I don't love the politics and teh games and the hypocrocy and the morons who follow because they don't have their own mind. I just hopethe world doesn't judge all Americans because of our government. Trust me, there are many of us who disagree with EVERYTHING teh whitehouse and teh government and that moron Bush do but the ones who have the money an dteh power are the same zombies ruining everything so poor people like me don't have a chance to change things. george Washington is spinning in his grave.

Certain Americans believe that war (with anybody) is good for the economy. Some of those believers are the decision makers at various media outlets. The media is directly responsible for the mindset of the country. If CNN says that the war is justified and good, the masses see that as a truth. The masses will in turn defend what they believe is right. Only the ignorant would defend such deception and corruption.

Well im english and im defending bush.
He is a brave visionary who continues the necessary fight in spite of declining popularity.

the reason many westerners want an end to occupation is simply because they dont understand the big picture.

The occupation first and foremost will seek to prevent inevitable chinese spheres or of influence or troop deployments in the middle east.
It will encourage a fair and democratic rule that will favour legitimate sale of oil to the west securing our way of life.

The ppl of iraq will prosper from the democracy and from oil revenue.
A democratic iraq will stabilise the middle east time bomb and be a suitable place to launch attacks against the enemy iran should this be necessary.
The thousands of iraqi dead are mostly due to terrorist activity of whuch the usa is not responsible.
Allied casualties are an inevitable cost of war.Dwindling oil stocks will certainly bring war sooner or later.Preemptive action will advantage the west and possibly head off greater conflict costing many more lives.

I know this is corny but..the liberal left"cant handle the truth!"

Thank you for saying "some" Americans. Luckily, we're not all blind and stupid. Most of us are just so embarassed we can hardly stand it. I have NEVER voted for him and I'm still embarassed at how the world must think of us. Check out the link below to see how rational people perceive this "president".

hehe not all of them are. But there are a lot of 'overy' patriotic Americans who think you are having a pop at the whole nation and get a little defensive as soon as you critisise anything about Bush.
