I like music. The trouble is that my taste is too eclectic. The only thing I know for sure is that I don't like techno-dancy stuff or sappy boy band stuff. What could I get "in to" at the moment that would lift me up a bit?

London-based/Beirut-born artist Mika has a great Freddie Mercury-style single called, "Grace Kelly". Everyone's singing it and it's available for download now.

Two of my favourite artists have released their second albums recently: The Killers and Amy Winehouse.

If you're sure you don't like techno-dancy stuff then a good alternative is Basement Jaxx. Yes, they are a dance act, but they are so eclectic (like you); the lyrics are so clever and funny, and I defy anyone not to want to dance to their stuff. They have a singles collection album and a brand new album out now.

locksley. <--very good band, to me they are like alternative rock but they might be too "sappy boy band" for you. hellogoodbye is good as well. and...lets see: FM static, Cartel, Beverly, Fountains of Wayne, Get set Go, Ok Go, Plain White T's, The Postal Service, Relient K, The Rocket Summer, Sufjan Stevens.

hope that helps. :)

if theres nothing out there that you like & can put a name to then maybe.....

Mylo, Nightmares On Wax, Moby = Chilled-out electric
Daftpunk, Fatboy Slim, Chemical bros = Alternative electric

I prefer the chilled stuff myself, but theres always room for a bit of Hard House, not to mention OG Hip Hop. But thats me.

First off, eclectic musical taste is not "trouble". Far from it. It's not common enough.

Second, U2's music is very uplifiting, in my opinion. I'm a casual fan, at best, but I fully understand why their music is loved worldwide.
