Web sites use RGB. Either bit setting is fine, but you get more colors with 16-bit.

RGB is for web, CMYK is for Publishing or Large Size Inkjet Printing.
8-bit color mean 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2 = 256 Colors
16-bit color mean 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x = 65536 Colors
if yor want to see what is different between 256color and 65536color just go to deskop right click choose property then setting then you find Color Quality you change this you will see

web pages don't do CMYK -- only printing -- so you have to use RGB. And 16-bit(65,536 colors) and above is best for websites since 8-bit is only 256 colors (think Super Nintendo)

RGB is sufficient for the WEB , and 16bit is prettier.
CMYK is better used in printing where colors really need to match.
