I only remember this song from CREAM. The Disraeli Gears album about 1968? 67? Of course then the group was Eric Clapton on guitar, Jack Bruce, bass, and Ginger Baker, drums.
Therefore, my assumption is Eric Clapton created the guitar "riff".

Excuse me, I'm old. Is 'Jimi the Lege' your name for Jimmy 'the Legend' Page?
Jimmy Page was in the EARLY "Yardbirds" with Clapton, and Jeff Beck. I don't really know the timetable, who was with whom. Later Jimmy Page formed Zeppelin, and you know the rest...but I don't think Led Zeppelin ever recorded Sunshine of your Love.

PS. If you listen to Eric Clapton on BLUESBREAKERS, JOHN MAYALL, 1966, you'll hear Clapton play a "riff" over and over that later became the Beatles song, "Day Tripper".

it was Eric Clapton, the song was also written by him for the band Cream way back in the late 60's, also credited for the song are Pete Brown and bassist Jack Bruce. interestingly enough Eric is named on the "Very Best of Cream" album as Eric Patric Clapton, never realised he had a middle name! and if you listen closely; it's not a bass riff

Yeh, I also think it was Jack Bruce. Clapton was the lead guitarist for Cream, of course, but the riff is a bass part, so it probably came from Bruce.

Sunshine of your love was on the Disreli gears album by Cream, who were Eric Clapton on guitar, Jack Bruce on bass & Ginger Baker on drums. Hendrix covered it as a tribute when they split up in 1968.

Cream recorded it and wrote it, so I think it was Jack Bruce that actually came up with the riff, being the song starts out with the bass.

Sunshine of Your Love was a song by The Cream. Eric Clapton was a member, and since he is a great guitarist I asume it is him.
