Check for cracks or scratches near the center of your disks. Try cleaning the disks with a cleaning cloth or a very soft cotton material. If you take your disks to a store like Game Crazy they will put your disk on a cleaning wheel and get 90% of the scratches off the disk. I have had this problem in the past and once they are cleaned by the disk polisher, they usually work ok again. It can't hurt.

The original xbox had a flaw with it's dvd drives if you've had it cleaned and it still doesn't work either find a replacement drive, easy to install but voids your warrentee, or go get a new xbox (if you go that route you might as well get a 360 though).

i would say trade it in at eb games or game stop. this happened to my first xbox as well. now im on my second one. normally i would also say to get a xbox360, but since i am about to send in my second one i wouldn't recommend that idea right now. Maybe get a Wii or a PS3. the Wii being the only one i don't have, and being the cheaper of the two, go for the Wii.

The Xbox is probably very dusty. Take it to your local EB or game store and have it cleaned.
