No.
It's not the timing or whatever other old wives tales you are listening to.
Each oocyte (egg cell) carries one X chromosome.
Each sperm cell carries EITHER one X OR one Y.
Whichever sperm hits the egg first is the one that fertilizes it, and there is a roughly equal chance of it carrying an X or Y- making the odds of a baby girl 50-50.
Hope this helps.

This isn't 100% accurate or anywhere close to it but it's what we learned in my Women's Studies Class. If you have sex 3-4 days before ovulation, you're more likely to get a girl. Having sex on the day of ovulation or directly after it, you're more likely to have a boy.
This is because "female" sperm aren't fast swimmers but survive longer. "Male" sperm are fast swimmers but die rather quickly. Therefore having sex before ovulation allows the male sperm to die out (because there is no egg to fertlize yet) and gives the female sperm a better chance.
After ovulation it's pretty much an even chance of a male or a female.
There's no natural way to know if you're having a boy or a girl, only old wive's tales.

old wifes tales which these are some dumb @$$ women cause the man carries the gene to determine the sex. Now lets say the male has other brothers and they had kids and girls were dominate then the chances are good. Thats how it was in my family all the boys had girls first so when I found out my girl was pregnant I already knew but we found out and guess what I'm having a girl. So I say its up to the male and how dominate them having girls in the family runs.

There are some that say yes but as far as I know there are not proven.
There are some methods fertility doctors can do to help but even they are not 100%.
The sex is determined by the sperm and it is a numbers game.
Good luck..
here is a link about docs spinning.
Also some more i found but best to ask YOUR doctor.

dont know if its true or not but I heard that having sex about 3-4 days after you start ovulating is more of a chance to get a girl, and having sex the day you start ovulating is more for a boy. Go to yahoo or google and type in Gender-selection and read about it.

If you are trying to concieve a girl you should have sex 3 days before you ovulate. Do not have sex on the day of ovulation. Female sperm can live longer than male sperm but the male sperm swim faster. Google it.

No, you get what you get. They say that if you have sex a few days before you ovulate your more likely to have a girl but in doing such only increases your chances by 2%.

I think there are some calendars you can look up on the internet - either ivillage or babycenter.com they have preconception calendars that I think tell you what to do if you want to try for a boy or a girl. I personally don't have a lot of faith in that though. I think it's up to God or luck of the draw basically.

You can try the Chinese Gender Prediction chart. It tells you certain months to conceive to have a girl.
