I am very educated in design theory and computer programming but I have never designed items to build on a computer (just paper). I would enjoy the luxury of a simple CAD/CAM program to assist me in my designs. Now, I would like to keep any cost of the program under $200, but if more money is required, please explain why. I would suggest Autocad, It's used in Architecture, but it's an amazing app. it's expensive at around 5000$ us. But if you use it for personal use it will last you a lifetime, you won't need to upgrade it.
