sometimes my friends call me a jew. what does it mean? is it an insult

Simple answer : A Jew is like a Christian, except that Jews adhere to a form of Judaism while Christians adhere to a form of Chrisitanity. Judaism is just one of the hundreds of religions in this world.
They're calling you a Jew to say you're cheap though. It's one of the eldest forms of racism or anti-religion. It's also almost sure that they (your friends) don't even know what a Jew is. So I believe they're using this word as an insult.
There's a much longer answer though and you should make some research on it once you become older.

The word Jew is an insult. If they said Jewish then no. They are calling you cheap and stingy with money.

Haha, my fiance calls me a jew all the time because my mom's jewish and i call myself jewish cause i'm cheap sometimes. if people are affending you, ask them to stop, but you shouldn't take it to heart =] just laugh with them.
