My eight year old daughter is having mood swings about the same time every month, but she is not getting periods. Is this normal?

I think it's normal. My daughter was like that. I also think that girls are hitting puberty earlier than they used to. My daughter was 11 when she got her first period.

This is very unlikely. Go read up on PMS. Most websites give statistics about how older women are likely to experience PMS (around 25 and up). It seems unlikely that an 8 year-old would have PMS. This is marked by the increase of hormones while the body is preparing to menstruate.

I would talk to the doctor. It might be PMS, it could just be that time in the month when all of her stress gets to her, or it could be another mental condition. Only her pediatrician can help you with this.

I have two girls at home. One of which is 6 years older than the other. They have both been moody at the same time each month for years. Now that my oldest does cycle it's very obvious to me that this is obviously something that girls are born with and all the women in the house run on the same cycle.
