I know you've noticed how white people are more afraid of Black people now. This seems very interesting. I wanna know what brought about this change.

I do not say I am afraid of them in an active way, but when they Burned down a lot of the town of Watts in So. Calif. i suddenly started noticing them. At the time I was driving to UCLA campus for medical things. Up till then the ****** were just part of the school, like every one else. But then they became potential threats to me. I do not know any black people. so i don't get to talk to them, Which is neither here or there. Violence usually just erupts.

point 1. all society does not revolve around this particular racial issue.

point 2. At least in NYC, whites were always scared of blacks in that whites believe blacks were more violent.

point 3. What you are probably referring to is the fact that blacks nowadays have political, social and financial powers that they did not have 30 years ago. Some of the blacks use this power to make problems for the whites if they say or do something that is not politically correct. this has happened to me because I said in racially mixed company that I believe that the black communities must start taking responsibility for the violence that occurs in their neighborhoods. Mothers need to teach their sons differently. At this point, I do not openly give my views on racial issues because if there is a hothead in the group, I will once again have trouble.

Part of it, I believe, has to do with people's feelings about Affirmative Action. Some people might think blacks get the preferential treatment whites used to get. I myself think neither should get it, not whites just because they're white, nor nonwhites to "see how whites like it for awhile".
Another part, and this is a shame, is that statistics say nonwhites commit most of the violent crime in the country, and some whites feel justified in being leery of all of them for that reason. A black comedian, I forget who, spoke about hearing someone behind him once, looking, and feeling relieved because it was a white man. that's a sad thing to have to think about your own race.

I have no idea. I grew up in an all-white community, and now that I've moved to a city with different cultures, I don't notice any difference in how anyone is treated, regardless of race.

Then again, I live in Canada, so it might be different here.

The media? I know in France, they always talk about young Arabs (who are French, by the way) who do stupid things for a few days. But they don't really talk about those who are "normal", who are trying to do something in their life, and they don't really talk about the problems French of arab origin face because of the way they oook (unemployment, housing problem, etc.)

I really think the media is to blame for a lot of the stereotypes many people hold, and from what saw when I was in the US, it's the same over there.

Um, that's not new. The whole reason whites kept blacks as second class citizens following the civil war was because they were afraid of them.

I'm not afraid of them, but I wouldn't let my wife go into a "black" area of town for fear she would be robbed or raped. Look at the stats, I bet I am right.
