I used to be a real stickler about putting the toilet seat down. But I've got two potty trained little boys now and if I put the seat back down sometimes they forget to put it up. It's easier now just to leave it up all the time for their sake. I'm outnumbered by the two boys and my husband so it's not a big deal.

In the greater scheme of things, some MAN designed the toilet seat with a LID, even, that NO ONE seems to want to put down. The seat itself, is the object of controversy because men lift it and women put it down. A good point was made by one of the previous responders who points out that we ALL sit for one thing or another but only men stand. Therefore, based on that reasoning, I would think that the seat should be down more often than not.

If you live in the same house with a woman the reason is: women have to sit down to use the toilet; the seats are normally down when not in use (they look better that way) and when she goes to the bathroom and in a hurry she just plops down on the seat not thinking, and falls in the hole. It is hard to get out of it and it hurts. Men stand up for most of their trips to the toilet except at certain times. So, try to be understanding.

Why would we? It's disgusting leaving it up, for the whole world to see the inside the bowl!! It's respectful for a guy to put it down so that their girl doesn't lift the seat and get a wet butt. There isn't a reason for woman to put the seat back up. SO the guy doesn't have to lift more than their johnson?!?!? I don't think so.

It should be down. What if a man had to do #2 in a hurry he'd be sitting in water. Other than that it depends on how many men are in the house compared to women. Then maybe a house rule could be made to put it back to where you found it.

Because men don't fall in when they go to the bathroom if the seat is up, (because you stand up) but women will fall in if the seat is up. So it is only right to put it down so we don't take a bath when all we need to do is go to the bathroom!

Because touching it once is bad enough? Really, I have wondered about that myself. I try to be considerate and place the seat back down but if the bathroom is particularly disgusting I will just use TP to lift it up and blow off putting it down. I guess women are just more particular about touching the seat.

how would you like it if in the middle of the night you wake up to go pee and almost fall into the toilet because someone did not put the seat down? another reason is because people don't want to see your pee and pubs. on the rim. and another reason is because most men don't clean the bathroom. usually their mothers teach them these things. it's called common courtesy.

because we don't have to. Why don't men put the seat down when they are done? I share a bathroom with my brother and it is annoying! I'm sure many women will agree right girls?
