Is it important?

I definitely believe philosophy is the most important function of a working society. In today's fast-paced, modern world, too many people think that they can find the answers to everything through science or religion or money or power. Philosophy takes all these ideas that we conjure as "important" and throws them away to get down to the most basic of questions. Philosophy is really what can separate a thinking man from an animal. Does a mountain lion question its existence? No, it just works through instinct. It is not aware that it is a mountain lion. It lives to survive. Some humans, however, do not live to just survive. Many of us are too busy occupied with dying to stop and consider life, which is what can separate us. It is not just the adaptation of survival instincts, it is not the fittest wins, it is not a routine that we are in. We are evolving. Ten-thousand years ago, hominids roamed around wantonly, just adapting to survive because they were aware of where they are and what they need to do. Six thousand years ago, we had empires that lasted centuries. A thousand years ago, we developed religion into something that we found completely necessary. A hundred years ago, we developed flying airplanes. Forty years ago, we went to the moon. Twenty years ago, the internet started as an experiment. The world of human existence is evolving so fast that eventually, we will be able to see evolution, from one generation to another until it is actually available on a visible spectrum. This is the most exciting time to be living in, and it is a feeling I get when I realize this that makes me need to ask philosophical questions. Discover philosophy and discover more than yourself: you discover the entire world in one word: Why?

Because its a path to you. After you examined every philosophy and exhausted all great minds have to offer, after you have stripped away every possible concept,

the only thing left is what you are, maybe quite different than what you thought you were.

I believe it is important to us to try to find the answers to the "Why" and explain them. For if we explain them... it explains 'Us'. I think us... as a people... yearn to question. Curiosity is a part of our nature. Philosophy fills the hunger that is 'Curiosity'.
