No, just one of the best songwriters. Obviously you like his work so you want to use that over used term 'genius'...Much as I like popular music...I don't think we have yet had someone so good I would call them that.

Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Ray Davies, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Leonard Cohen, John Lennon,....there are many excellent song writers...these are a few that come to mind immediately for me.

Let's not get into that 'rock speak' nonsense...you know...legends...geniuses...mega stars....

They are artists ...good ones...among the best at what they do.

Bob Dylan was good. I agree about Jim Morrisson and Prince. I'd also say David Bowie. And Brian Eno (extremely underrated). Oh and Daniel Johns, still a relatively young guy but a genius nonetheless.

of direction he has. he's written boatloads of undesirable songs. After the motorbike coincidence, he became very hit-and-pass over. The Down interior the Groove CD i offered years in the past replaced into ALL undesirable songs different than the single that replaced into on the radio. i'm a huge fan. i do no longer brush off his later artwork. i replaced into surely listening to well known circumstances interior the vehicle this morning. I do purely no longer worship the guy. He positioned on super stay shows interior the 80s, yet his songwriting had generally long previous downhill with tips from then.

I am not sure if he is "the only true genius" in pop music.
But I am 100% sure he is a genius.
He is a genius not only in pop music but as the most influential poet in the 20th century to say the least.

He is the Mozart of the 20th century, and maybe the 21st too. May his Bobness long continue to entertain the Bobcats.

Hmm, that's a good one. I almost said John Lennon, and Prince had a time where he was a genius...so I'll say no.
