I had my epidural for about 35 hours. I didn't have any reaction to it. However, after the birth I did have severe hip and leg pain. Come to find out that I was just out of adjustment and needed to go to the chiropractor. After 3 visits I was fine. When you deliver a baby it completely rearranges your body and it is a very good idea to have it put back the way it should be. I highly recommend making an appt to see a chiropractor after you have your baby. Even if you have never been before. I had never been before I had my baby and it made me feel so much better. All the aching started to go away after my first visit. I don't think it has to do with the epidural. I don't think the doctor would have allowed her to keep it in if it wasn't healthy.

My mother recently had another baby and she had an epidural and they were going to take it out after she delivered but she was getting a tubal and they left it in so that they could just use it when they had to take her for that. She has lower back pain and even considered taking a lawsuit out on the hospital for leaving it in so long. So I think they can leave it in too long and it can cause lower back pain. She may need to go to a dr to make sure it's not a disc out of place or something.

No it's not really a problem i had my epidural in for 36 hours. I still also get lower back pain. it might go away and it might not it all depends on the person but it's nothing to worry about.

Yes, it could be due to the epidural. I knew someone who had pain for a couple of years after having hers done. Has she talked to a doctor about it?

2 and 1/2 days, wow that's a long labor!!! they uselly give you the epidural when you are open 4 centimeters and they turn it down or shut it of before puching, it will still be in effect but it will be easier to control the pushes and if you ahve a c section then they turn it of after the opertation but they give you medicine for pain. the epidural last one our after it shut of and removed

there could be complications from an epidural.. maybe the person who gave her the epidural didn't do it right and hurt her.

Why did they keep it in that long? I had a c-section and had to have one and they didnt keep it in that long they just gave it to me to numb me through it and then about an hour or so later it started wearing off.Because they wouldnt take me out of recovery until I could lift my foot up.
