I had friends over one night and their little boy kept taking a puffy cheeto out of the bowl we were all eating out of, taking a bite and putting it back in the bowl. Then he take another one and do the same. This is while he's sitting on her lap so it wasn't like she didn't see him and she didn't say a word to him. She just let him do it. So yes, at times other people's kids sure do get annoying but it's usually the parent's fault.

Generally, I like children. I can think of maybe 3 that I have met that I instantly disliked but I get along well with the rest. Some go as far as claiming me as their "Uncle Bill" which is flattering.

However, there are occasions where children of friends, strangers, or relatives have acted disrespectfully toward me and/or others and I took it upon myself to speak up no matter where I am or what the occasion is. On one occasion, I slapped a friends kid across the butt for pulling things from store shelves as I was carrying him for his parents. The father told me it was his job to do that but later I told him that he should do it so that I don't have to.

The only exception I make is if the parents of the child do something immediately.

Only until I started having children of my own. Now, the sound of a child whining or screaming is sort of like background noise.
