During the mid to late 90's, the movie industry started to have a lot of twist in endings. More than the previous decades. Now it's common for most thrillers and horror to have a twist in the ending.
My favorite is The Usual Suspects. If you have not scene this film, i highly recommend it.

I really liked the twist at the end of The Sixth Sense when Bruce Willis' character ended up being dead. The thing about good twists is that they have to shock you but still fit in with the rest of the story and be somewhat plausible.

The Village was a good twist because you never would have guessed it being in present times. The Sixth Sense because Bruce Willis was actually dead. And the Saw movies of course.
