I bought a wireless controller so there is nothing to plug in. The controller worked fine the first week. I changed the batteries twice to make sure it wasn't a battery problem. I don't want to bring the unit to a repair service because they'll probably charge as much as it would cost to buy a new PS2.

you still have to plug a receiver into the ps2 for the controllers to work. There isn't any built in wireless stuff in the ps2
The controllers should have come with a sensor to plug into the conroller port.
