Most black ppl have no historical knowledge of any slave trade.

Britains involvement in the slave trade was minimal compared with that of the their fellow africans rounding them up for sale.

Britain was the major instrument in the abolition of the slave trade globally.

There hasnt been a recognised slave trade for 200 years. No one can feel "oppressed" by it anymore.

I think maybe its something blacks like to use as a weapon of guilt and sympathy seeking against whites, possibly to justify a failure to progress.

Yes, I wouldnt have wanted to be a slave. But many whites have died in conflicts seeking freedom for all.Including blacks.Whites dont throw that in the faces of blacks who now enjoy the freedom whites died for.

I don't think blacks actually do moan about it, however people like Blair seem to. Like if someone says something suposidly racist or against blacks he would be like, we can't say that because of how we treated them during slavery times.

I can see why black people would be angry about the slave trade, however 200 years later does take the pxss way to much.

Do people even remember their family 200 years back? So most people can't moan about slavery.

By the way, a lot of people are criticising your picture, but quite frankly it's the best one I have ever seen on here. Well done for speakin your mind mate. Quite right as well.

All hail the BNP.

Interestingly you have chosen the iron eagle / swastika symbol for your avitar. Any reason in particular for that?

Clearly everyone will have their own opinion on the subject, yes a great many slaves were rounded up and sold by local war lords in west africa etc. Some might say that slavery had been ongoing for hundreds (or thousands) of years previous to the 'trade' and all that changed was people arrived with boats to export them.

At the end of the day, I say whatever happened is gone, was it right or wrong? That is personal opinion (but I know where I stand, and that is on the side of it being wrong).

However, who are we to say that people who lived hundreds of years ago were wrong. Clearly by our standards they were, but maybe if they hadn't someone else might have.

This is a very tricky and emotional area to tackle. Let's leave it there.

Yes, some people still moan about slavery. What they should be moaning about are the 100+ years after slavery ended. Up until the 1960's, it was legal to segregate, discriminate, mistreat, and kill blacks. Americans are still feeling the repercussions.

As for slavery, it is over and done with. We can not change history or punish those responsible. It will not benefit anyone to continue to seek revenge for that act.

Clearly this was a rhetorical question because your commenting and leaving your own opinion...Where have you personally heard that all blacks have no personal knowledge of slave trade, that we are still wanting sympathy from white people...just because there hasnt been a recognized slave trade in over 200 years doesnt mean that people cant still reflect on the past...the only who thinks that blacks are opressed is white people...

I am a black woman who does not personally know anyone who still moans as you would put it at the slave trade, it happened and there is nothing you or I could do to change that fact. We as black people have enough issues facing us still today here in America that started from us being slaves 200 years ago. Yes, slavery was abolished but, Blacks are still looked at as animals and ignorant by today's society, it's just not as verbalized. How can you say no one could feel oppressed by something that is silently pressing us everyday. I have never met a slave but a lot of people of color who's minds are in-slaved by the fact that a black person has to work three times harder at any accomplishment for it to amount to something. In some cases all a white person has to do is show up.

I hear that some of 'us' are sitll fretting over 40 acres and a mule.

I would not know what to do with a mule and I already own much more than 40 acres; and no government gave it to me.

That's sufficient! Besides, I have never been beaten and made to work in any field, sold and stripped in public, let alone be considered any one's chattel.

are you living in some small village, sheep shagging, the whites will not speak of it at all, this is because your ancestors raped, killed, burned many black people, you would have to face the fact that the whites were no better than savages , the way they treat a fellow man was to shameful to even speak of now!
