But of course men were treated better than women in terms of the rights that were afforded to men. Women had to be married to own property or anything of that nature. And they were considered the property of their husbands, which is why they took the last name of their husbands, like they were the womans father.

Men may have had more right but I don't know that they were treated better. Women were honor and respected in there own right. Look at today women are judged liberated by how much like a man they are. That is not liberation but another form of tyranny (ok maybe that word is a little strong). Women need to be proud to be women for that is part of who we are.

Men and women were certainly treated differently. Men were treated like men and women were treated like women. Feminists attempt to erase the differences by behaving as, and insisting that they be treated like, men.
