stay on your credit report in ohio if you filed 7 years ago(2001) and can that be removed from your credit report.

10 years in NY but I think it's federally controlled

Well, it's supposed to come off after 7 years, but they are lazy about taking stuff off. Actually I'v even heard they don't have to. I have the same problem. I'v still got stuff on there I filed on BR from 1989! I found this place that will cost me 300 dollars, but they force people to take the stuff off. Because they have to prove with original bill that I even owe that. And bill usually go from one collection agency to another. Or they change their names. (The collection agency's) So it is very hard to get stuff removed yourself. They just won't listen to you! Trust me, I know. I'v called myself. I found this company to help through a mortgage company. I don't know what the name of them is at hand right now. So be ready for a fight on your hands. And if you call them, they may just put that you filed br.... and not totally remove it. Good luck.
