i dont know what to do as there are loads of other vehicles around the car also. I have called police as im concerned it may blow up or something.
Just need someone to tell me if it would blow up or anything..

key is in ignition, and door is locked cant get it too switch engine off. Ive even got a torch out too see if anyone is inside, but noone. Knocked on house door but no answer, his wife is in hospital so he must be there.

Get a cloth and stuff it up the exhaust pipe ... that will stop the engine after about thirty seconds.

After that length of time it would be reasonable for the police to break in and switch it off. The poor man must have a problem for that to have happened. Hope he is all right

The car won't "blow up". If there is no immediate concern of exhaust fumes, the can simply be left to run out of gas.

If it is outside it shouldn't cause any harm...it will just run itself out of gas (should be too far away from that if it has been going for hours already). The only worry would be if it was in a garage or something - then it could cause Carbon monoxide buildup.

Just call the police, or let it keep running... it will eventually run out of gas. Also, if you know they are at the hospital, call there and ask to speak with them.

In UK it is an offence to leave the engine on in an unnattended motor vehicle.

It will run out of duel soon , if its run that long then the car cooling controls are all working , from that point of veiw dont worry , about him worry!!!

Thats weird break a window, it cant be doing the car or environment any good. I'm sure he'll forgive you and be grateful its only the window that broken.
