i would suggest (if you've let them grow) go and get them waxed, then upkeep at home. they'll be able to get a great shape for you that isn't high maintenance. ice cubes work but are very cold, and your fingers numb too! but they're pretty much the only thing that can easily numb your skin. either that or have a few drinks! but don't do your own eyebrows if you choose that! :-p you'll get used to the pain eventually, i hardly feel it anymore :)

try threading, its an ancient indian technique that uses a woolen string to remove hair from its root, its less painfull than plucking because it removes many hairs at once. Lots of beauty salons offer this, it usually costs 5-10 pounds for both eyebrows.

Plucking takes forever. I have mine waxed at the salon, it also lasts longer than plucking and is a lot less painful.

If they hurt, try rubbing a little bit of germolene (or something with local anaesthetic in) before you start.
Always pluck them in the direction that they grow.
The more you do it, the less it hurts. My eyes used to stream for a start but now I only get the odd one that comes a bit keen!

If you rub some of that toothache removerer oregel, or some teething relief gels on it. Then it will numb it long enough the plucking won't hurt as bad. Good luck!

Waxing. It's not less painful, but it's quicker! Or, try electrolysis or laser hair removal -- I don't know if that hurts or not, but I believe it's permanent.... anyone know?
