I'm 3rd generation Florida and my husband and I want to move. Our dislikes are that there are no seasons its either warm or hot. I'm tired of being happy that the house is able to stay a cool 80 in the summer. Also there so many people moving down here it is getting ridiculous. There is literally hardly any land left to build on so developers are filling swamp to build more houses. So with the housing boom our local government did things like zero lot lines (your neighbors house is 6ft from yours) and very poor planning with the roads lots of congestion. One side note if you every watch Americas Most Wanted and they actually find the suspect guess where they were living Yep Florida!!!! Granted there are still some really pretty laid back Florida areas but we are moving, just like the rest of the original Floridians to somewhere a little slower and cooler.

there are hurricanes, but you have plenty fo warning and can take safety precautions. it is hot a lot of the year, but everywhere you go there's air conditioning. or you can have a pool or go to teh beach. I miss having seasons and leaves changing colors, but not enough to leave. I live in central Florida and it's only crowded for maybe 3 or 4 months in the winter when people from the north come down. I've also lived in 4 other states and they have good things and bad things about living there.

I live in St. Pete area, and agree with most of the conditions others above have stated, but I love it here. Yes it is hot, but beats shoveling snow like my native Colorado. Yes, there is traffic, and yes, it is getting crowded.
But, going to the beach on a nice evening to watch the sunset; sitting on our dock watching dolphins in the water, and fishing; being one 1 and a half hours from Orlando; our favorite small towns in Florida; watching the sun rise over Daytona Beach then driving home to watch the sunset at Pass-a-grille Beach;NO STATE INCOME TAXES!;Hurricanes get plenty of warning most of the time. At least we don't have to worry about earthquakes, blizzards, mud slides, etc.etc
I'm staying for a while longer (at least 30 more years)

We will be here all day for an exhaustive list, but the highlights, or rather the lowlights for me are the maniacal drivers, the humidity, hurricane season, the ridiculously high housing costs, the corrupt politicians, Floridian politics in general, the apathy, the crime...to sum up my feelings, "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to (and don't want to) live there".

Well, to start.. There are a lot of hurricanes, it's very, very hot in the summer, and it is highly populated. But, my family and friends are here so I could never leave. There's A LOT to do here. If you move anywhere, move to Tampa. You will be in the middle of everything. The beaches are wonderful too!!!
