Is the Democratic National Convention an invite only sort of affair?

Just found out its being held in my home town, and I was wondering what it takes to go. Then I have to find out if I can go in my Class A's, but first things first.

So a run of the mill democrat cant just go? Can I at least tail gate outside and make fun of the anti abortion protesters?

You must be a delegate to attend. You also have to be a Democrat of standing. It is a political position that requires a lot of brown-nosing to get appointed.
