Under most conditions, yes, you would be stupid to choose UNF over Auburn.

Auburn is one of the best universities in the South. University of Northern Florida is, what, fourth or fifth best public university in Florida?

My advice is to go to the best school you can get into. That being said -- there may be financial reasons or personal reasons for being in Jacksonville that override other considerations. While UNF is not as good a school, it doesn't mean you can't get a good education there. You hav eto be diligent. But even if you do get a good education there, you may not have the opportunities for jobs that you would get at Auburn.

Only UNF if you are attending for free/scholarship. Comparing the two, Auburn without a doubt. When time for you to graduate and look for a job, WHERE you went to school will be a big deal. Now if you were my age, 42, it would not really matter, the employer would simply verify that you DID go to college.....

Yes you would be unless there is another reason such as scholarship involved.
