I was laughing my head off - the contestants won a fridger freezer, crystal decanter and glasses and a lawnmower. They refused to gamble these prizes for the star prize. How times have changed. What are your favourite old game shows?

The star prize in those days was a speed boat. But no one ever won it, so Bullseye was a weird program whereby people hardly gambled, & those who did never won. "Let's have a look at what you could have won..." Kick them whilst they're down why don't you...
I liked Family Fourtunes. Is always fun, but not since Richard died. I also really like University Challenge, not becuase of the game itself or the fact that I even enjoy it, but I hate the gameshow host so much (i forget his name, I want to say Jeremy Paxman?) but I hate him. He get's so uptight when someone interupts him. Also when someone answers wrong he looks at them like they're drooling. Like he knows half of the answers. Idiot.
Sorry, about the rant, but yeah you're right, old game shows are the best. Price is right "How much do you think these cans of tinned corned beef are worth?" Nowadays, it's more like if you win you get 2 cars! 2 cars! I could do with just 1!

yes and the star prize was nearly always a blooming speed boat with Jim saying "look what you could have won".

My all time favourite was a programme called Gambit, which was a pontoon based quiz show for married couples and was hosted by Fred Dineage and the cards where dealt by Michelle lambourne

Blankery Blank has classic crappy prizes.

I remember once the star prize was 2 plastic bikes.
