Wow. Good article. That about sums it up. Buttman is a joke. I hate the slow erosion of the rules.

They didn't mention the horrible schedule. I am bored with the teams the local franchise plays night after night. Then I turn on the TV (Canada we have games broadcast) and the teams WE don't play and would die to see are playing the other side of North America to empty arenas.

I was surprised at how well things went last year after the strike. I thought it would be like it is this year. But, definitely a low ebb for the sport.

And talk about "manipulating the facts" I completely disagree with the next post.
To compare Ottawa loosing a franchise in 1934 in the middle of the great depression to some US team losses? Why don't you mention that the NHL went back to all these failed US markets? Why do only US cities get second chances? Here are the years:

Ottawa lost team 1934 New Team 1992
Philadelphia lost team 1931 New Team 1967
Minnesota lost team 1993 New Team 2000
Atlanta lost team 1980 New Team 1999
Colorado lost team 1982 New Team 1995

There is some Merritt to the divisions, I thought it was a cheap shot in the article - but still I don't know why they keep wanting to change them. They are thinking of changing them again. I like the ease of regional names, but don't try learn geography by the NHL names. The last time I checked Vancouver is on the Pacific and Dallas is closer to the Atlantic. Lots of other examples to of why it is confusing. But, in a movie about Rocket Richard, I found out that Clarence Campbell was really are big jerk. (This is the first time I find YA filters leaving me speechless as jerk isn't the word I need to use.) Getting references to him out of the game is fine by me.

you reside evidence that stupidity is contagious. i've got copied my reaction to the slender-minded submit by potential of that Spin scientific expert. study on: you have an thrilling way of manipulating the information to in good shape the fiction. i'm going to agree that Bettman choose's to flow, yet there are some issues that could desire to be corrected. The disparity in values between the Canadian and American money as nicely to the strengthen in gamers salaries is what necessitated the strikes of the Canadian franchises. could you bypass up the possibility to tutor a earnings and threat dropping your organisation as a results of fact of your nationalism? Why did you very unquestionably go away out the celebs shifting to Dallas, the Rockies shifting to New Jersey and the Scouts shifting to Denver in the previous that? you moreover could forgot to show the Seals, Flames (to Calgary), or the opportunity of the Pens leaving Pittsburgh. to no longer point out that Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, ny, Ottawa, and Montreal have all misplaced communities interior the previous. did you recognize that Ottawa is on it relatively is third franchise? And no person guy can say that he on my own moved a set from one city to a distinct. it relatively is a consensus interior the gang to boot as a results of fact the league proprietors, some i'm optimistic who're Canadians. an identical proprietors elected him commissioner and are loose to vote against something he proposes. it relatively is not any longer that i'm protecting somebody who's popping off classic followers like myself, it relatively is that i like the fact. you're making a helluva spin in this, yet you owe to your self to be taught issues in this kind of way as to work out extra advantageous than purely one element of a narrative. I did no longer point out that the NHL is likewise the league that had non-geographically aligned divisions that used the names Patrick, Smythe, Norris, and Adams. purely before that it replaced into purely East/West. So what custom are you speaking of?

You are living proof that stupidity is contagious. I've copied my response to the narrow-minded post by that Spin Doctor. Read on:

You have an interesting way of manipulating the facts to fit the fiction.

I'll agree that Bettman need's to go, but there are some things that need to be corrected.

The disparity in values between the Canadian and American dollars in addition to the rise in players salaries is what necessitated the moves of the Canadian franchises. Would you pass up the opportunity to turn a profit and risk losing your business because of your nationalism? Why did you conveniently leave out the Stars moving to Dallas, the Rockies moving to New Jersey and the Scouts moving to Denver before that? You also forgot to mention the Seals, Flames (to Calgary), or the possibility of the Pens leaving Pittsburgh. Not to mention that Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York, Ottawa, and Montreal have all lost teams in the past. Did you know that Ottawa is on it's third franchise?

And no one man can say that he alone moved a team from one city to another. It is a consensus within the team as well as the league owners, some I'm sure who are Canadians. The same owners elected him commissioner and are free to vote against anything he proposes. It isn't that I am defending someone who is turning off traditional fans like myself, it's that I like the truth. You make a helluva spin on this, but you owe to yourself to examine things in such a way as to see more than just one side of a story.

I failed to mention that the NHL is also the league that had non-geographically aligned divisions that used the names Patrick, Smythe, Norris, and Adams. Prior to that it was simply East/West. So what tradition are you speaking of?
