The Shi'a led government that replaced Saddam's Sunni government knowingly hung him on a day that is holy to the Sunni, but not Shi'a. If this is not further evidence of a brewing civil war, and the desire of the ruling Shi'a to incite one, I don't know what is. If and when it happens, we'll see a mass slaughter very similar to the one the U.S. stood on the sidelines and even supported (because Iraq was our ally then) when Saddam was consolidating his sectarian dictatorship in the 80's. Saddam was even given a key to the city by Detroit's mayor! It's amazing what horrific atrocities we Good Christian Americans can pretend not to see when there's money on the line, but boy, try to take that dollar away and suddenly we're all about spreading liberty and democracy at the point of a sword.

Saddam was tried in an autonomous Iraqi court, lost his appeal to another Iraqi court and was executed by the autonomous Iraqi government. The US had nothing to do with the trial, sentencing or execution of Saddam.

Eid ul adha is actually more like Yom Kippur than Christmas.

Verdict to hang him was passed by an Iraq court. There is no system in Iraq to hang a person on Eid day. Obviously it was deliberate. I agree with you that not only hanging on Sunni Eid day but also taunting at last moment and video making was unethical. America was helpful to him in his last days by keeping him in his protection.

Bush said they nothing to do with this hanging, I bet. They shouldn't have done this on his holy day and shouldn't have happen the way it did, it was a complete sham. A notch so big that I seen on CNN that it he had a hole in is neck and bruises on his face I know he was a bad person but after all he was also human being and no human or animal should be hanged so horrible. The chanting and cussing someone in their last minutes of life is so wrong and poor judgment.

Ignorance is bliss! Show's it is better to get your facts straight before you show your your ignorance. He was hanged hours before the Holy holiday, just for that purpose by the people who tried him, the Iraqi's, not the Americans. Mother always said, if you can't say something intelligent, best not to talk at all. Get your facts straight.

The USA did not hang Saddam. It was an Iraqi Court, Judge, jury, and rope. It was a Shia that insulted Saddam as he died.

It has been released that the USA wanted the Iraqi government to wait until after the holiday before they executed the man.

The Democrats of this nation wanted Saddam to be released and re-instated into power
