So, are they the Manchester United of American football or the Accrington Stanley's?

Do you think Victoria was a huge influence on him, regarding his move to LA?

Most Americans are unfamiliar with Pro Soccer of any kind...There was some interest in the 70's when Pele joined the New York Cosmos, and time to time we perk our heads up for the World Cup, but I would guess 90 percent couldnt name more then 1 team in the MLS.
Galaxy is one the original ten teams that began with MLS in 1996. They reached the championship five times, winning in 2001 and 2005. They reached the finals of the Champions Cup in 2000 and 2003. Landon Donovan and Cobi Jones are probably their best known players.
The Galaxy actually are profitable, although they only averaged a little over 20,000 last year (but they werent very good last year). I would guess LA (and MLS) hope that bringing Beckham to America might help pick up soccer's ratings.

I'm sure Posh probably was one of the main reasons for their move to LA - both love the limelight, although I suspect they will have better treatment from the US paparazzi then in Europe.
Also guessing either Beck or Posh (or both) might be looking to get into acting - and LA is definitely the place for that.

D.C. Galaxy is their main rival. They got some press a few years ago because they signed Freddy Adu, who at 14 was the youngest professional athlete in American History - but it should say something that most people in the US were unaware that he got a try out with Manchester U, much less got signed by Chelsea for 5 mill pounds.

Unless you are really into soccer.. LA Galaxy isn't a team that is well known//talked about. The European version football isn't all to common in America. What I mean by that is soccer isn't a sport that the majority of the US tends to watch.

I think Victoria was a big influence on his move to LA. Just because there are a couple other good teams he might have been interested in, but she might have not liked the city or the weather.

AHH majority never heard of LA Galaxy? and some of you are football fans living in America. they're talked about a lot on ESPN during MLS season. Even if you don't watch MLS. I mean shhit. lol they aren't like the MAN U of US coz they're not all that good. DC United is better.

Becks influence to come to LA? the million dollars he's gonna be banking in EVERY WEEK. plus, publicity. his wife is singer and i heard Becks wanted to be in the movies....hence LA is the home for Hollywood. Despite all that, he wants to promote football in North America. playing in the MLS will definitly draw more crowds.

LA Galaxy is an American soccer. No theyre not the Manchester United of American football. American football is a game thats stimilar to rugby but with fatter people and more padding. I think Victoria was as the Beckhams are close friends with Hollywood(tom cruise, brad pitt, etc).

I thought Americans were bad about not knowing what is going on outside the country but now, you guys are bad, really bad.

L.A. Galaxy is like Man U yes.

Becks already operates a Football academy in Los Angeles and the weather, I'd say, is 10000% better than anywhere in England.

Welcome to the US, Becks, yeehaw...

No not very many people outside the U.S. have heard of L.A. Galaxy. Maybe now that David Beckham is in with them, "soccer" will gain more popularity among Americans!
