I've seen one. My father has seen many. And I know a lot of ppl who have seen UFO's.

So maybe, maybe not.
Area 51 is real.

Most UFOs are only unidentified by a single person - someone who knows the night sky or knows weather phenomena would be able to identify it easily. I work at a planetarium, and it's amazing to me how often people confuse Venus for a UFO!

I saw a video on TV once that was supposed to be evidence of a UFO, but it was so obvious what it really was - a very blurry image of a street light (or maybe even the Moon) that looked like it was zooming around only because the camera person was jiggling the camera all around.

Hey, I'll even admit that I've seen things in the sky that I can't identify (and I'm very familiar with the night sky). But I'm certain that all these things have been perfectly normal (if rare) things, and nothing to do with aliens.

As Carl Sagan is supposed to have said, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." So with regards to UFOs and aliens, where's the extraordinary evidence?

UFO's exist, but they're not necessarily aliens. UFO, or Unidentified Flying Object is just a name for Phenomenon which cannot be identified. Several Military projects are kept classified, so if the public catches a glimpse of one, then it falls under this category.
On another note though, if you've ever seen star trek, you probably know about the "prime directive". If there were an alien race visiting earth, they might find it wise to keep a low profile in much the same fashion. They would have to be a lot more technologically advanced than us, and with that point in mind, it could do major economic, political, cultural, and technological damage(to name a few) to our society; by introducing themselves and their technology to our world. An example might equate to giving a caveman a machine gun. The caveman has no idea what this thing does, or what dangers it holds. While it might be useful to the caveman to have this machine gun, by giving it to him, we could effeect the natural development of his technology, culture, and even evolution in his future.

I would suspect that there is more than one reason.

Some are probably mass hallucinations others may be optical illusions and some may be tricks played by people.

I knew one guy who, after years of silence, came out and admitted that the "UFO" that thousands of people had seen one night in Northern California was a hot air balloon with a candle inside of it. Hundreds of New Agers went into massive crisis and denial but he proved it.

It isn't even a mass hallucination. It is just a very few people who see and report these things. Most people never see anything, or if they do see something odd in the sky, they don't automatically conclude it is an alien space ship.

Ever read the scripture that says the Devil is the Lord of the air, or the one that says that evil spirits are sent to the arid areas and deserts?

I think its evil spirits. Personally. I cant prove it. But i do believe that people see things that theyre truly seeing. I doubt its life from other planets though.

I saw a UFO once, I was drunk and tripped out on acid but I think it was real. I snapped a photo with my camera phone but then I lost the phone so I guess it will forever remain a mystery huh?

The real proof is when a crap load of people see one with their own eyes.

I wouldn't think so. The object(s) got their attention, it's usually not the crowd looking for an object, the object looks for them-- kinda like "peek-a-boo"-- sometimes.
