Thanks to the loosening of a old rules - yes it is possible for Prince William to marry a commoner, like Kate Middleton. By the way, as a so-called "commoner" Kate comes from a very well connected family. This is essential - if there is no aristocratic breeding (or in-breeding as I call it!) she would have to come from a well-to-do family background such as Prince Edward's wife, Sophie. I mean the future king of England can't very well marry a cashier from WalMart - no trying to be snotty - but for the royals such things count (for better or worse).

I guess they go with the New times. Look at Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, both have choosen wifes from normal day backgrounds. Look at Prince Charles and Camilla, she aint nobility either. So why not, there are plenty of women out there, who are smart, sexy, cute, maybe rich? I sure hope he isn't marrying Kate. Cause she is the only one he been with. I think he needs more experiences with women. But otherwise, I think he might not want to step into the footsteps of his fathers and uncles. So perhaps William is wiser as we think he is.

The only rule for whom William can't marry is a Roman Catholic. It's a law from the 1700s.

I'm afraid that- maybe- she wants to marry him just to be a Queen one day, don't like her at all, she's airhead, she thinks she's clever, beautiful etc. and very smart,
just look at her pix and doings like when she refused the Queen's invitation to Balmoral last Xmas-
who does she think she is ?

He can. And even if she is not for the aristocracy, the Queen can promote her to a certain degree
