Like the "superpowers" of our history's past, none ever truly lasted. Are we experiencing any similarities to the fall of Ancient Rome before the the age of Constantine or Britain after World War II? History proves that no one power will forever dominate the world. Our way of life today is definitely not like the relaxed "middle-class" eras of the mid-20th century, other nations like China and India are surpassing our economy, our military is no longer generations ahead of everyone elses. Do you believe this our nation's time?

Dufus, let me give some examples for you to look up because there are just too many sources, last time I checked (from multiple sources) India & China's GDP was growing at 8-9% per year, almost triple the growth the U.S. is experiencing. In terms of the U.S. military falling behind, I should have worded that a little better, but why do you think America's allies are no longer relying on the U.S. to supply their militaries as much as in the 70's and 80's? We are clearly not as big as an arms supplier as we used to. And lets not forget the steady yet ongoing depletion of America's industries and technology sectors :(

WE are definitely on the way down. I am not sure that it can't be turned around...but there doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency among Americans. We are changing demographically, and have seemed to have lost our identity. We have loyalty to smaller ethnic or philosophical/religious groups and not the nation. Seems likely we will allow ourselves to be irreparably changed.

The economic elite who own this country made the fatal mistake of hiring no-talent yes-men as their flunkies. These inferior people humiliate themselves in order to get good jobs, which they can't do well enough to prop us the parasites on top. They are not brains, they are brown-noses. Also, the hereditary structure of the dominant clique guarantees that they become weaker and dumber. Imagine if pro sports only allowed the sons of former players to join--that's what a cancer the right to inheritance is.

Rome was strong because the occasional great leaders always had a corps of thousands of intelligent, proud, and conscientious subordinates. These unknown Romans also prevented the incompetent Emperors from destroying the Empire.

If you don't pay someone to go to college, he isn't worth anything. No one will admit that college is indentured servitude, so the former United States will soon collapse from the top down because of the worthless ambitious imbeciles in the middle. Can't you hear the poorly structured Tower creaking?

I think that even if Rome is not a power anymore, and if Britain isn't a superpower today, America will always be a power. Even if surpassed both economically and millitarily, it is no stranger to playing it behind curtains. Today, Britain is still powerful even if in everything but empire. Rome, it has left behind a legacy that lives on, even today. America today will not suffer the fate of it's predecessors. The future of man lies in Space, the final frontier, which by miles, is American.

Historically you can see that most empires topple when government becomes too involved and the people being governed are apathetic. Further degradation will be evident and proportional to the moral fabric of the society being torn.

I believe that the United States is on that slippery slope. All is not lost though. The citizens of this great country simply need to take personal responsibility for their own actions, quit looking to the government for hand outs, programs that promote racial tensions etc... and generally live their lives honestly.

Where are you getting your information? Show me where China and India are passing us. No way in hell is our military is falling behind, technology has made it better. Less people are needed to run military equipment.
