when is a typical age to start your period?

I started at 11 is this young?

Not really... my mom was 16, but I was 10.... my aunt was 9, and some I've known have started as late as 17. It depends on body type, the foods you eat, your bone structure, and many other factors too. 11 is a bit young, but not terribly so =)

No, it isn't young, it's a normal age. I would say the typical age is around 11-14. I started when I was 12.

11 is young. But a lot more girls are maturing at an earlier age these days. I was 12 when my peiod started.

i would agree 11 is younger then most girls but i think girls can start as early as 9 while some don't start until 17 or 18

I got mine by 11. My daughter just got hers & she is 11 too.
It's early but it's happening a lot earlier for girls now. I think it's the hormones put into our food. Chicken & Milk...

8 - 16 is the age range on getting your period but it all comes down to your body and what stage it is in!

I started when I was 13, and I felt I was way too young! But now I know it is normal to start when your body is obviously ready. I was ill prepared and had to learn quick!!!!!

there are many diffrent ages you can get your period and many times you can get it when your mom got it when she was younger. but other times you can get it when your body wants it to come. 11 is early but you cant stop it from happening

I would say around 11. It differs from person to person. Ask your mom about hers & you may be able to base it around that.
