Salvador Dali. His work is so subliminal, and if you think about it his work looks as if it was all a dream. is work makes things look as if a juxtaposition took place, since some of the objects are not related.
And sharing the same spot with Dali is of course Vincent Van Gogh. His artwork as an impressionist is one of the finest, and sometimes I compare his painting of the Starry ight with the nightmare before christmas. I am a big fan of art, and could give you a page of information, but do not seem to have time to keep going on, so there you have it.
Here is the link for the starry night http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/gogh/starry-night/gogh.starry-night.jpg
And here is the link for one of the paintings from Dali http://www.jmthivel.com/autre_obj/dali/Salvador-Dali-Tentation.jpg

A few contemporary artists to check out...
Mark Koven www.markkoven.net
Anat Pollack www.anatpollack.net
I also have a strange attraction to famous people who are hobbiest photographers. Viggo Mortensen has published a few books, and they are amazing.

Artist...Rene Magritte
Photographer...Ansel Adams
sorry don't have the links at hand.
Magritte's surrealism makes me feel so many emotions as I study his work. I feel connected to his thoughts.
Adams does the best B&W studies ever.

Norman Rockwell. He used his talent to move people, touch their emotions, make them laugh, smile, think, and cry.
His paintings transcended Saturday Evening Post cover art and became recorded history.

Frida Kahlo - I like the emotional quality in her works and her use of color. Huge inspiration to me.
Gustav Klimt - I admire his patience and attention to detail with all of his patterns. His provocative imagery of women...I love his style.
Justin Bua - Contemporary illustrator. I like his use of colour. I like his urban style and I love how he uses acrylics. His works look like they're done in oils.
Edward Hopper - I like his use of space in his works. Just straightforward and simple scenery.

Kandinsky!!
I like his style, I couldnt say why, I just love the colours and the moves he creates, I could actually get lost in them!
I also like his theory when he describes art.
