wrong resolution from video card

start in safe mode
uninstall video driver
reboot and reinstall this driver and keep in mind what resolutions work with your monitor.
Good luck!

your monitor probably does not support the resolution you are trying to run against it. hook your old monitor back up, check the resolution and confirm that your video card can run a resolution in the range that the new monitor supports (it should be listed somewhere in the user manual)

also, install any special drivers if needed for your new monitor before unhooking the old one

if neither of those do not work, test the new monitor on another computer... it could be bad even if it's new out of the box...

Try Changing the Power Cord.
Some Power Cord Connected to the Monitor are Faulty and can Cause Problems.
