3GB = 3072MB
3072MB / 4MB = 768 songs

I've got a 2 gb MP3 and they say on the packaging it can hold UP TO 600 tracks. I've had that explained to me and if you download in the ordinary way, it'll hold less - it's when you download as a WMA file (I think they call it) that these things hold more tracks. I was told you need to buy special software to compress the files to WMA format. I'm not a techy so I may not have the terms completely right. I do know that on my old 512 kb MP3 that as far as I know I didn't compress any files, I got about 125 tracks on it, so if you multiply that up to 3gb, then you might well be talking about 750 or so tracks. Depends on the quality and type of music, e.g if it's classical the 1812 overture is worth 3-4 pop songs, selecting lower quality is not that noticable and more song can be put on your player, I have a 250MB it hold 16 average 2-3min songs.

A gig is a gig is a gig. a number of that "Gig" is used in "homestead conserving", yet has little to do with the actual incontrovertible fact that MP3 (0r 2) are compressed song information. Few songs are of the same length. some "tracks" might want to be as low as 2.5 min's and some might want to be over 4 min. So, at ideal, your answer is purely going to be an time-honored. commonly, three hundred or so is about precise.

about 3000 songs because ive got a 1 gb mp3 and it holds 1000 songs so im guessing about 3000 songs

a song is usually around 4mb so your looking just under 750 songs if you take off a little storage space for folders and stuff
