I'm only 16 so I know my voice is not fully mature yet but I want to sound my best when I get up there on stage...my pounding heart (when I'm nervous) interferes with my vibrato a little and I want to do something that will really help my voice when I sing in front of everyone (and my nervousness too!).

I was a soloist in high school, and what worked for me is taking several deep breaths after I took the stage. While it feels like an eternity to you, to the audience it's only a few seconds, and they're not going to notice. If you leap onto the stage and immediately start singing with all that adrenaline flooding through your system, though, your voice is going to end up shaky- and not in a controlled vibrato sort of way.

Also, if possible, you can always check out the stage where you'll be performing beforehand. That was helpful for me when I knew I was going to be singing in front of thousands of people. Spending time up there made it feel as if it were my stage, and the audience was only coming for a visit.

Practice is good too, but keep in mind that it is possible to overpractice. In a situation like this, it's good to know the song intimately, but you don't want to practice so much that your enthusiasm for the piece completely dries up. Also, I've had experiences where I practiced a song so much that I couldn't really hear the tune anymore, and started getting off-key. I don't think you have to worry about that, because I was literally practicing hours a day when that happened, but it is something to keep in mind.

And above all, have fun! Once you're performing, it's too late to do anything else to prepare, so just go with it and enjoy the audience response.

Just keep telling yourself :" No holding back.... no holding...." couple this thought with abdominal breathing and you're good. Nervousness is good, because it will give you the an adrenalin push, but look at it that way. The moment you think you are ready exhale twice (not inhale! This is a cardinal mistake, because breathing is supposed to happen involuntarily, by inhaling a big amount of air first you disturb the natural balance of of O2 and CO2 in your system).... exhale twice through mouth right now> automatically you inhale through the nose deeply and abdominally... am I right? This will give you stamina in everything you do, most of all when you are singing and you are a bit nervous.
Also make sure that your body language expresses wanting to give it your all, because when you are nervous you automatically physically go into "can't do it mode"... so stand there with chest wide open and a stance that says, " I'm ready to give it my all."
Good luck!! You can do it!

The best cure for stage fright is rehearsal. Whatever you're up there to do, be totally focused on it.

There's no difference between a performance and a rehearsal; you should put 100% of your energy into each. When you put your focus on your performance, the audience will completely disappear for you.

It'll help if you've got real stage lighting. A darkened audience really is invisible when you've got 10,000 watts of stage light on you.

As you get used to performing on stage you'll want to open up to your audience and connect with them better; it's what an audience really wants, and you'll love the energy you get back from them. But for your first public appearance concentrate solely on being the best performer you can be, exactly like you rehearsed it.

Start singing in front of people.
Gather your family in the living room and sing in frot of them as if you were performing.
Invite you neighbors parents over and do it in front of them.
Next time you are over at a friends house, ask their parents to listen to you sing.

The more you get out there the easir it will be.

One other piece of advice -- practice with a Microphone (if that is what you will have when you perform) -- having the sound be wierd can really throw you.

I honestly have degree fright yet I honestly were on degree more effective cases than the basically accurate human being (elocution contests, speaker, emcee, etc.) - no longer by way of my own determination. the suitable actual thanks to get over this worry is to face it head on(Hypnosis did not artwork for me because I honestly have upload). basically upward push up there, seem on the gang and comprehend that they are basically human beings, and in the previous saying a be conscious, say those 3 words to your self: "right here is going no longer some thing!". you do not comprehend how effectual those words are till you take advantage of them then and there... Your coronary heart would by no ability supply up racing whenever you walk to the degree. you settle on if it truly is sweet or undesirable. you are able to imagine of it as worry, or you are able to imagine of it as thrill. pick the latter and also you may advance a liking to it ... do no longer ignore that even enormous and well-known celebrities have degree fright. do not worry the gang. no longer even the judges. they're basically human beings. do not even project about them liking you or no longer. keep concentrated on the objective: to triumph over your competition. each little thing else will stick with. good success! p.s. or you are able to imagine all of us contained in the target audience is gruesome or bald like that one dude stated. Yeah, that'll eliminate the terror. i might want to be guffawing and sneering although.

honey listen, im 16 and i know that i can sing, but no one else knows because i am too shy to sing in front of anyone. buy my advice would be to just forget about what you think your voice might sound like, just tell your self that you your great and sing your heart out. because if you want to be heard then you can't be nervous. I know it's hard, but think about it, once your up there you'll forget all about it and everyone will wish that they were up there in your shoes, it will all be fine, i promise.

Before you go on stage, remind yourself that the audience is there to like you, that they are there for you, yo invited them here, it is your stage and your house, and they are there to support you. You'll have nothing to be nervous about when you know they are all there to love and support you.
