Last year my 9 year old son started to compete in gymnastics, his coach told us not to allow them to swim within 24hrs of a meet. He said it would wear out his muscles and he would not be able to perform as well. Please advise...

yes hes muscles will be depleted of creatien and glutiemean i cant spell it plus hes muscle will be fraidand all this will make ihim slugish weak and hes got a good chance of pulling or tearing somthing

why would you go against his word? The word of a professional versus an average joe from here who may or may not know anything about gymnastics and may be only 14 years old? Who are you going to listen to?

If it was a light swim then it's okay, but if he maxes himself out consistently before a meet, then maybe the coach is right.
