Apart from the main characters.....well, I dunno, does Dumbledore count as a main character?? If not, then I guess Neville because he kind of creates a whole other version of Harry Potter because if Voldemort had chosen Neville then it wouldn't even be called "Harry Potter" it would be called "Neville Longbottom" instead. But really, who wants to read a series about a boy named Neville "Longbottom....?" no matter who good the series was, nobody would pick it up, they would judge the book by its....title. So...yeah, I guess I like Neville best.

I love Mrs. Weasley....her character is so well written, even though she's not really as central a character as Harry and his friends. She seems like a real mom....very caring, but at the same time, not willing to put up with crap from anyone! :-)

i like Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore and Sirius (even though they are somewhat main characters). Too bad through all the series out already (1-6) Dumbledore and Sirius die in different books

My personal favorites are Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.
If you're looking for more obscure characters, I also like running across Aberforth Dumbledore.

Probably just the way it's written, cleverly with a good plot and subtle humor. It really makes you think.
