Some of the heavier ones are attached to a head piece, I think., but only if covering with something else... at least one band around the head above the ears, and a cross piece going from forehead to middle of back band.
Or you could try attaching to a regular "head band" in some way, or as a head band circling the other way (think stereotypical picture of Native American with feather sticking up from back of head, or an eye dr. with eyepiece band on).
They can also be attached to wigs or hats, etc.
And some are on sticks of one kind or another so they're only held in front of the face.
Some lighter-weight ones may hold on with adhesive putty, etc. (theater or clown type).
More?

depending on the type of mask, if it is really thin, I've actually glued around the edges with elmers glue and glued things right to my face. You dry it with a hair dryer. I had fake eyes that circled my real eyes once. I glued them in. You just soak them off or pull gently and it will come off. I made a costume of a bag of garbage one time too. I glued plastic flies to my face. Funny as hell. Otherwise you could try a hood too. Attach to wigs or hair accessory things, glasses, make loops just to go around your ears, velcro around the back of head

Elastic or ribbon for a rigid mask.
If it's a latex or soft mask, try spirit gum or liquid latex either of which should be available at a theatrical supply store.
Liquid latex would be my preferred method over spirit gum, since spirit gum smells awful and requires a special kind of remover, whereas latex just kind of peels off.
