HI, I have 3 young children and every time they so much as walk by the table, the table cloth gets messed up. Is there some trick or product to keep that sucker in place that wont damage the table or the cloth. Some way besides taping the bottom, which hasn't worked either?

This might help, you can buy little weights that clip on the bottom of table cloth to hold it in place. we use them when we have a picnic outside and its windy,it kept the table cloth from blowing away. good luck.

They sell some stuff called Dysom at craft stores. (I might not be spelling it right, but if you go into a big store and describe it, you should be able to find it. I saw some at Wal-mart) It is a thin layer of a soft rubber like stuff. It can be used under throw rugs to make them more stable. If you put some of that in the middle of the table, then something rather heavy on it, it might have sufficient stability. However, if the kids are going to pull it off anyway (and wind up with the centerpiece on their heads) maybe you should put the tablecloth in the closet, and use place mats.

The principle behind inertia. Assuming there is very little friction between the table cloth and what is on the table cloth this can be done. The cloth will exert a force on the things above it, however if you do it quick enough the object's inertia will not allow the objects to move much. You can see the same thing if you were trying to put the head of an ax on its handle. Once you start it, you can actually hold the end with the head of the ax towards the ground and hammer the end of the handle. It will seem as though the ax head is climbing up the handle. What is really happening is that the handle has less inertia than the head of the ax. Hense like the table cloth, it is easier to move the table cloth than it is to move the head of the ax.
