assuming u are female....this means skirts that are NOT above the knee and no blouses that are off the shoulder or even show the shoulder....all blouses should have sleeves of some type....always wear hose and appropriate shoes...not sneakers...no low cut blouses either....yes u may wear pressed slacks as well...if in doubt stick with dark and/or neutral colors...nothing outlandish and no leopard prints, etc.

For men, business professional is considered a suit with tie, dress shoes. The dress shirt can be long or short sleeve, but is usually long sleeve.
For women, there are two formats:
1) Dress skirt below the knee, button up blouse with collar, heels are acceptable but not usually stilletos or anything too flashy.
2) Dress slacks, button up blouse with color, flat dress shoes or low heels are acceptable. Neutral colors recommended.
Business casual is often a sport jacket for men, no tie. For both men and women, a turtleneck or in some cases polo shirt is also acceptable.
In general, neither business casual or professional will ever include running shoes, t-shirts, jeans or jogging pants, mini-skirts, or anything with lycra in it.

typical business/professioanl attire for a women would be consider to be a dress/pants suit. If you don't have a suit, consider accessories such as a scarf or brouch.
Blouse
dress pants (not jeans or khakis)
shoes
stay away from: denim, shorts, leggings, jogging suits, t-shirts, tank tops, sneakers, open toed shoes or sandals and you should be just fine.

I would mimic the professionals that are in a pay grade above me.... how are they dressing? How does your boss dress? Try to mimic that. Remember, quality is more important than quantity. I know it is expensive, but invest in a quality suit. If you are a woman, hosiery (plain... not fishnet or glittery or patterned) is a must. Keep your shoes clean and decent. Fix holes, missing buttons... find a good tailor that will make your clothes fit your body type.... invest in dry-cleaning!!

Are you male? ("chimera" certainly doesn't help one decide, lol!) Then suit and tie. At the very least, sports jacket and slacks, still with a tie. If you are female then the female equivalents, i.e. skirt suit, pant suit or coordinated slacks, blazers, skirts, etc. Dress shoes. No sneakers or hush puppies.

A three piece suit, whether skirt or trousers will do, a nice ironed shirt and a nice pair of shoes

Well I work in an office of about 20 people and we have to dress business professional. I am in inside sales and we frequently have customers and other employees from other offices in so there is no leniency. Men need to wear button down shirts and ties with slacks and dress shoes. Women are need to wear dresses, skirts (they don't have to be at the knee or longer) but no miniskirts, button down shirts or if you are wearing a suit jacket and slacks it is okay to wear a sleeveless shirt or something a dressy tank, dress shoes. Basically the easiest rule of thumb is if you are second guessing don't wear it. Now we are not required to wear nylons but most of us do.
Suit Choices
Observe what management professionals wear in the field of employment you wish to enter and choose your professional dress accordingly.
Choose a good fabric with a tight weave that drapes well in neutral colors such as gray, tan, black, or navy. Navy blue and medium to dark gray suites are considered staples. A good business wardrobe includes several suits of varied weights and conservative colors.
Suits should be properly tailored and freshly dry-cleaned. Stick with a classic, conservative suit; avoid fashions that will go out of style.
An important note on pant and skirt lengths: Men's trousers should be hemmed appropriately for wear with dress shoes. Women's skirts should be of sufficient length for modesty. If you have no skirts of appropriate length, it is preferable to wear dress slacks.
Shirt/Blouse
A white shirt or blouse is the preferred color. However, tasteful, neutral, solid colors are acceptable. A professional wardrobe includes several shirts or simple blouses in white, blue, and other neutral colors.
Grooming
Hair should be clean and conservatively styled. Men should generally be clean shaven.
Keep cologne or aftershave to a minimum because scents can be overpowering in a small interviewing room. If you use cologne or aftershave, it is best applied at least two hours prior to your interview.
Shoes
Traditional dress shoes are your best choice. Avoid trendy heels. Shoes should be freshly polished or shined.
Men should make sure their socks match their suits and are preferably darker than their suit color.
Women should consider a practical pump style shoe. Women's hosiery choices should be neutral to their skin tone.
Jewelry
Jewelry should be kept to the minimum and be tasteful.
Women should not wear any more than one, small conservative pair of earrings.
Men should generally avoid earrings altogether for an interview.
Nose, tongue, eyebrow and other visible body piercing should be removed for an interview.
