No, it's not possible to get a false positive. The only way you are not having a baby is if you have a chemical pregnancy, which is where you get a positive test but the pregnancy never develops and you get your period. This happens because there was more than likely something genetical wrong with the baby, but don't worry this is rare. Congratulations!

Congrats! There is a better chancce that it comesout negative and be wrong than positive and be wrong 'cause it must detect the pregnancy hormone!
Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

You can't get a false positive and if you do it is VERY VERY rare that most doctors go with it. You can get a negitive and yet be pregnant but if you get a positive you are pregnant so congrats. I am pregnant with my second child and I took an at home test for both and never got a false positive when it said I was I was. So have fun and love every moment you have being pregnant is beautiful!!!

I know of one incident where the pregnancy test was wrong. But that was the ONLY time i have ever heard a pregnancy test being inaccurate. Most Likely you are pregnant(congrats) bringing a child into the world is one of the greatest things one can ever do. But defintely make an appointment with your OB/GYN to confirm!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

First and Foremost! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! ♥
Just alil helpful and relaxing advice. A Positive Result, can NEVER be a Negative, BUT and Negative result can sometimes really be a Positive!...........You can't get a Positive result and it be a true negative! There has to be a surton level of the Pregnancy Hormone (HCG) in the urine/blood stream to get a POSITIVE result. I hope that makes sence! ~Best Wishes~ *Smiles* ♥

Unfortunately, I had that happen to me about two years ago. I took a pregnancy test and got all excited (huuby, too). We went to the doctor the following week only to find that the test was wrong. After trying for over 7 years now.. we let God work for us and we are now 9 months and counting..

If you are expecting..Congrats..
If you are not..continue trying
God Bless!!

It is rare to have a false positive, usually a positive is a positive.
