russian roulette seems almost a vietnamese national sport in the deer hunter,is it really as popular?

Maybe in times of war the Vietnamese just used it as torture kinda like water torture. Then the society was so distraught from the war they had nothing else to pass the time but gamble with their lives. I think it was just a temporary war crazed society.

i think it was a form of torture but they also bet on it, like gambling i guess
